THE ISSUE AT HAND

"...it was the Reformation that first set a rigid limit to the absolute power of the state."

Karl Holl, Professor of Church History, University of Berlin, 1906-1926

The world's opinion on this issue was best described by Friedrich Nietzsche when he wrote:

"The symbol of this struggle, inscribed in letters legible across all human history, is 'Rome against Judea, Judea against Rome.' There has hitherto been no greater event than this struggle, this question, this deadly contradiction.... One has the right to link the salvation and future of the human race with the unconditional dominance of aristocratic values, Roman values." From: Genealogy of Morals

The cult of personality that has arisen, and apparently not been discouraged, concerning the incoming President demonstrates how far the people of the United States have drifted from their 17th and 18th century Protestant roots. Instead of "Give me liberty or give me death!' we now have, "Give me security and freedom from responsibility!" There has arisen a new aristocracy that is only to happy to facilitate in bringing this to pass. Redux Romana.
